Materials:
Cotton thread size 10
#6 steel crochet hook (or size needed for guage)
19 metal bottle caps (as found on glass coke bottles and beer
bottles)
Guage:
Two rounds in pattern should be approximately the same diameter
as one bottle cap.
Notes:
Chain three at start of round counts as first dc throughout.
Join each round with a sl st to the top of ch 3. Be sure
to wash and dry all bottle caps thoroughly before crocheting on
them.
Pattern:
Chain 4.
Rnd 1: 15 dc in 4th chain from hook; 16 dc (ch 3
counts as first dc now and throughout); ch 3, join.
Rnd 2: dc in same stitch as ch 3, 2 dc in each stitch
around; 32 dc; ch 3, join.
Rnd 3: dc in back loops only of each stitch around;
32 dc; ch 3, join.
Rnd 4: sk next three stitches, (dc in next dc, skip
next 3) around; insert bottle cap so that the open side
is seen through the webbing on round 4; join. Finish off.
Finishing:
When you have all your bottle caps made, sew them together with
a whip stitch on the back side as indicated in the diagram.
Secure all knots. Vibrant colors should be treated to avoid
dye run.
Care Instructions:
Trivet can be machine washed, and should always be machine dried
so as to avoid rusting of bottle caps.
